Ukrainian officials report that Russian attacks across several regions have resulted in the deaths of at least five people and damage to a ship in Odesa port, even as Moscow claimed to have intercepted over 200 Ukrainian drones. In Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy region, a Russian drone attack on Saturday killed two men, Governor Oleh Hryhorov stated, adding that civilians were struck in Bilopil, near the Russian border. Governor Oleksandr Ganzha reported that Russian attacks in four districts of the central Dnipropetrovsk region killed one person and injured four others. In the southern Kherson region, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed that Russian shelling wounded seven people. Further east, Governor Ivan Fedorov stated that Russian forces conducted over 700 attacks on 50 settlements in the Zaporizhia region within the last 24 hours, killing two people and injuring four. Homes, vehicles, and infrastructure sustained damage, he added. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba reported that Russian forces once again targeted port infrastructure in the Odesa region. Kuleba stated on Telegram that “The attack damaged port and logistics infrastructure facilities, warehouses, technical equipment, cargo storage tanks, administrative buildings, as well as freight transport.” He also mentioned that a civilian vessel, flying the flag of Palau, was damaged while loading in the port, though no crew injuries were reported. Ukraine’s air force announced it had shot down or disabled 124 out of 144 drones launched by Russia overnight, with impacts recorded at 11 locations. Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed its air defenses destroyed 203 Ukrainian drones between Saturday evening and Sunday morning over Russian regions and the Black Sea. The ministry also stated that 95 Ukrainian drone control centers were destroyed over the previous 24 hours. In Russia’s Vologda region, Governor Georgy Filimonov reported five injuries from a Ukrainian drone attack on a nitrogen complex. Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev stated that in Russian-annexed Sevastopol, Crimea, debris from downed drones hit the cardiology department of a hospital, injuring one person. He added that 16 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the city overnight and that drone debris also fell on rail tracks, damaging overhead power lines and causing train delays. These latest attacks occurred as diplomatic efforts to end the war, now in its fourth year, remain stalled. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced signing agreements on security and energy cooperation with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on Saturday. Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv aims to leverage Azerbaijan’s experience in defending airspace from Russian attacks.
