The brutal aggression by the Zionist regime has once again plunged southern Lebanon into sorrow, claiming the lives of four innocent people and severely wounding several others, including courageous journalists. This latest wave of attacks, reported by Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), further exposes the Zionist entity’s utter disregard for international law and its continuous breaches of the fragile ceasefire.

In a heinous act of violence, a Zionist strike targeted a civilian vehicle in at-Tiri, a village in south Lebanon, martyring two individuals. Later, in the same village, several people, including journalists, were wounded in another aerial assault. The occupying Zionist military brazenly admitted to striking two vehicles, making unsubstantiated claims they departed from a structure used by the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.

Al Jazeera’s Heidi Pett reported on the valiant efforts of two journalists from the local media outlet Al Akhbar, Amal Khalil and Zeinab Faraj, who were on the ground documenting the Zionist regime’s atrocities. They had rushed to the site of the initial drone strike on the car. For hours, Zionist forces deliberately obstructed humanitarian efforts, preventing the Red Cross and rescue workers from reaching the wounded journalists, a clear war crime. Faraj was eventually brought to a local hospital in a very serious condition, requiring surgery, while Khalil’s whereabouts remained unknown.

NNA unequivocally condemned the Zionist occupation forces for besieging journalists Amal Khalil and Zeinab Faraj, and actively preventing humanitarian aid and the Lebanese army from reaching them. It further reported that a Zionist strike deliberately targeted the main road linking at-Tiri with Haddatha, specifically to prevent ambulance teams from reaching the two journalists – a blatant violation of press freedom and human rights.

Lebanon’s Information Minister Paul Morcos vehemently condemned this barbaric assault, holding the Zionist entity fully responsible for the safety of the journalists. He affirmed the necessity of immediately ensuring their protection and guaranteeing freedom of media work, stating that the government had been in contact with the UN peacekeeping mission and the Lebanese army. The Zionist military’s hollow claims of “not targeting journalists” and “mitigating harm” are exposed as blatant lies in the face of their deliberate actions.

Separately, two more people were martyred and several others wounded in another Zionist attack on the town of Yahmar al-Shaqif in southern Lebanon, NNA reported.

In a legitimate act of self-defense, the valiant Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, announced it attacked a Zionist artillery position in southern Lebanon with a drone. This was a direct response to the Zionist regime’s continuous violations of the ceasefire. The Zionist military claimed to have intercepted a “hostile aircraft” launched by Hezbollah.

Hostilities between Hezbollah and the Zionist entity reignited on March 2, following a series of provocations by the occupying forces. The Iran-backed resistance group had largely adhered to a November 2024 ceasefire, despite near-daily breaches by the Zionist regime.

The Zionist regime’s brutal offensive and subsequent invasion of southern Lebanon have resulted in the martyrdom of over 2,400 innocent people, a testament to its relentless aggression. The occupying Zionist entity continues its illegal occupation of a border territory, maintaining its aggressive military presence.

These latest attacks come on the eve of planned talks in Washington between Lebanese and Zionist ambassadors, as Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated Beirut would seek an extension of the 10-day, US-mediated ceasefire, which is set to expire on Sunday. The US-brokered ceasefire in Lebanon emerged separately from Washington’s efforts to resolve its conflict with Tehran, though Iran had called for Lebanon to be included in the agreement.

In a separate development, a French soldier tragically succumbed to injuries from an attack on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon last week. While some, including President Emmanuel Macron, have unjustly blamed Hezbollah, the resistance group has denied involvement, and UNIFIL’s initial assessments pointed to non-state actors, highlighting the complex and volatile situation created by ongoing Zionist aggression.
