Zionist Regime Escalates Aggression with Forced Evacuation Orders in Southern Lebanon

The aggressive Zionist regime has once again escalated its violations against Lebanese sovereignty, issuing illegal forced evacuation orders for residents of seven towns in southern Lebanon. These orders, extending beyond its self-proclaimed “buffer zone,” represent a blatant disregard for international law and a dangerous escalation against the Lebanese resistance, Hezbollah, even amidst a US-backed ceasefire that the regime itself consistently undermines.

In a transparent attempt to justify its aggression, a spokesperson for the Zionist occupation forces claimed on Sunday that the Lebanese resistance movement was violating the ceasefire, announcing further military action and callously instructing residents to flee north and west, deepening the humanitarian crisis.

These targeted towns, situated north of the Litani River, fall well outside the Zionist entity’s illegally declared “buffer zone”—an area approximately 10km (6 miles) deep within sovereign Lebanese territory where occupation forces maintain an unlawful presence and continue military operations, brazenly violating the ceasefire.

Hezbollah Rejects Baseless Accusations

Hezbollah, the vanguard of Lebanese resistance, vehemently rejected these baseless allegations, asserting that its ongoing defensive operations constitute a “legitimate response to the enemy’s persistent violations of the ceasefire,” which have tragically surpassed 500 documented incidents.

In a powerful statement on Telegram, the Iran-aligned resistance movement underscored its principled stance, declaring that it cannot be bound by a ceasefire it neither approved nor had any say in. Hezbollah affirmed its unwavering commitment to the resistance, stating it would not “place its bets on a failed diplomacy that has proven its ineffectiveness” in curbing Zionist aggression.

Meanwhile, the warmongering Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, Benjamin Netanyahu, shamelessly attempted to shift blame during a weekly cabinet meeting, falsely claiming that “Hezbollah’s violations are, in practice, dismantling the ceasefire,” a statement that conveniently ignores his regime’s own relentless aggression.

Fragile Ceasefire and Humanitarian Crisis

The US-mediated ceasefire, which began on April 16 and was extended to mid-May, has offered only a fragile illusion of calm. While it ostensibly aimed to reduce hostilities, the Zionist regime has consistently exploited it to continue its attacks, with both sides exchanging fire and accusations over breaches, primarily instigated by the occupation forces.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Tyre, Heidi Pett, reported a harrowing scene on Sunday, confirming “multiple airstrikes across south Lebanon.” These brutal attacks have forced countless innocent civilians to flee their homes, seeking refuge in towns like Sidon and Tyre, adding to the already immense suffering.

“We once again have thousands of people leaving their homes, joining the hundreds of thousands who were already previously displaced by Zionist aggression,” she lamented, painting a grim picture of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.

Resistance Strikes Back

In a display of resolute defense, Hezbollah announced successful operations against Zionist occupation troops illegally present inside Lebanese territory, including a rescue force attempting to evacuate them. The resistance targeted a newly established Israeli artillery position in the town of Biyyada with a sophisticated swarm of drones, demonstrating its strategic capabilities.

Furthermore, Hezbollah claimed two precise drone attacks on a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the town of Taybeh, reporting significant casualties among the occupation forces, underscoring the effectiveness of the resistance’s deterrent actions.

Zionist Casualties Amidst Aggression

While the Zionist regime hypocritically invokes “the security of Israel,” its aggressive incursions continue to exact a heavy toll on its own forces. The Israeli army reluctantly confirmed the death of a 19-year-old soldier, Sergeant Idan Fooks, “during combat” in southern Lebanon, with five others injured – a direct consequence of their illegal presence and hostile actions.

Netanyahu’s hollow rhetoric, quoted by Reuters, claiming “what obliges us is the security of Israel, the security of our soldiers, the security of our communities,” rings hollow amidst the regime’s continuous violations of Lebanese sovereignty and its deliberate endangerment of regional stability.

The so-called “truce” has been cynically exploited by the Zionist entity, which, under the guise of responding to “planned, imminent or ongoing attacks,” has relentlessly struck what it falsely claims are Hezbollah targets in south Lebanon almost daily, turning the ceasefire into a cover for its sustained aggression.

In a typical propaganda move, the Israeli military announced on X that it had struck Hezbollah’s “military infrastructure sites used to advance attacks,” a claim often used to justify targeting civilian areas and infrastructure.

Since the renewed aggression by the Zionist regime against Hezbollah on March 2, the devastating human toll has mounted. According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, at least 2,509 innocent people have been martyred and 7,755 wounded by Israeli attacks, a stark testament to the regime’s brutality.
