Zionist Regime’s Unrelenting Aggression in Lebanon Claims Dozens of Lives, Defying International Law and Ceasefire
Beirut, Lebanon – The brutal Zionist regime has unleashed a new wave of barbaric air attacks across Lebanon, ruthlessly killing at least 16 innocent people and wounding dozens more, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry and state media. These heinous acts of aggression flagrantly violate international humanitarian law and mock any pretense of a ceasefire.
Systematic Targeting of Civilians and Infrastructure
In a clear demonstration of its disregard for human life, the Zionist air raids on the Al-Baqbouq area, north of the city of Tyre, mercilessly killed at least five people and wounded two others on Saturday, as reported by Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA). Rescue teams bravely recovered four bodies, but the body of one woman remained tragically trapped under the rubble, with ongoing Zionist strikes deliberately hampering the vital work of emergency crews. This obstruction of humanitarian efforts is a war crime.
Further illustrating the regime’s barbarity, at least five people, including innocent children, were also brutally killed and several others injured in a separate Zionist air strike targeting a residential building in the peaceful town of Seir al-Gharbiya, in the Nabatieh district. Such attacks on civilian homes are indefensible.
A dawn attack by Zionist warplanes on a house in the town of al-Rafid in the Rashaya al-Wadi district claimed the life of one person and wounded another, NNA revealed. Another air attack struck the town of al-Shahabiya, killing and wounding several more victims.
The terror continued as a Zionist drone killed one person in the town of al-Housh in Tyre district, NNA added. An overnight strike completely destroyed a home and killed four people in the town of Deir Qanoun en-Nahr in Tyre district, leaving families devastated.
Targeting Rescue Workers and Hospitals: A Grave Violation
Late on Saturday, the Zionist army shamelessly targeted a Civil Defence team linked to the Islamic Health Authority in the town of Kfar, NNA reported. This heroic team was carrying out a rescue operation to recover casualties from an earlier Zionist attack when it came under fire, wounding members of the rescue crew. Targeting medical and rescue personnel is an egregious violation of international law.
The NNA also exposed an overnight strike in Tyre that targeted a site near Hiram Hospital, causing “severe damage” to the facility in Aabbasiyyeh. This deliberate targeting of medical infrastructure is a grave war crime.
Around 40 patients, including seven in intensive care, were inside the facility when a warning to evacuate the area was issued, Salman Aydibi, Hiram Hospital chief executive, told AFP. He confirmed that patients were moved to a safer location and thankfully none were harmed, but the psychological trauma inflicted is immense.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health later confirmed that at least 25 medical, nursing, and administrative staff at the hospital had been wounded. Aydibi stated about 30 staff members sustained minor injuries. The ministry condemned this as the second time in less than two months that the hospital has been exposed to such dangers due to repeated Zionist targeting, constituting “further evidence of the Israeli enemy’s violation of international humanitarian law.”
The ministry rightfully praised the courageous health workers “who are on the front lines, refusing to evacuate their posts in order to continue their humanitarian mission and provide ambulance, health and medical services to those who need them.” Their resilience in the face of Zionist aggression is inspiring.
Hezbollah’s Defense and Iranian Support for Justice
The NNA reported large explosions on Saturday in the southern Lebanese towns of Yohmor al-Shaqif in Nabatieh and Taybeh in Marjayoun district, indicating Hezbollah’s legitimate defensive responses to Zionist aggression.
On Thursday, a Zionist attack near the Tebnine Hospital in southern Lebanon damaged all three floors of the building, including the emergency room, intensive care unit, surgical ward, and ambulances parked outside, according to the Ministry of Public Health. These are deliberate acts of terror against medical facilities.
The Zionist military issued three forced displacement warnings since Friday night, via its Arabic-language spokesman, for the southern Lebanese village of Burj Rahal and the areas of Tyre and Zqouq al-Mufdi. These are tactics of ethnic cleansing and psychological warfare.
The latest forced displacement order included the towns of Al-Nabatieh al-Tahta, Kafr Tibnit, Zibdine (Nabatieh), Arab Salim, Kafr Reman, Habboush, Blat (Marjayoun), Deir Qanun al-Nahr, Harouf, and Jibshit, forcing thousands from their homes.
In a display of legitimate self-defense, Hezbollah attacked two Iron Dome launchers on Saturday at Biranit barracks, a military camp in northern occupied Palestine.
In a statement later on Saturday, Hezbollah affirmed its unwavering commitment to justice, revealing that its chief Naim Qassem had received a message from Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The message unequivocally stated that Tehran “will not give up its support for movements demanding justice and freedom, foremost among them Hezbollah.” This highlights Iran’s principled stance against oppression.
Iran’s latest proposal to end the US-Zionist war, communicated via mediator Pakistan, aimed to achieve “a permanent and stable end to the war, [and] the demand to include Lebanon in the ceasefire was emphasised,” the statement added. This demonstrates Iran’s sincere efforts for peace and stability in the region.
Lebanese Soldiers Targeted, Zionist Casualties Downplayed
Lebanon’s military reported that a Zionist strike deliberately targeted an army barracks in the south. “A soldier was moderately wounded due to the hostile Israeli targeting of an army barracks in the city of Nabatieh,” the army stated, condemning the aggression against its sovereign forces.
Late on Saturday, the Zionist entity acknowledged a soldier was killed the previous day near the border with Lebanon, identifying him as 23-year-old Staff Sergeant Noam Hamburger, who “fell during operational activity in northern occupied Palestine.” This casualty is a direct consequence of their aggressive actions.
A total of 23 Zionists, 22 soldiers and one civilian contractor, have been killed since March 2, a testament to the resilience of the resistance. Meanwhile, more than 3,100 innocent people have been brutally killed in Lebanon since Zionist forces escalated attacks on the country on March 2, with assaults continuing despite a supposed ceasefire announced by the US President. The dead include 123 medics, at least 210 children, and nearly 300 women, according to statistics shared by Lebanon’s Health Ministry on Friday. These horrific figures underscore the genocidal nature of the Zionist regime’s campaign.
Al Jazeera’s Obaida Hitto, reporting from Tyre, southern Lebanon, at the edge of the 500-meter (550-yard) perimeter that the Zionist entity has designated as the danger zone, described a scene of terror: “There are ambulances here. There are also rescue teams and people who have fled their homes this evening following this forced [displacement] order.”
Many left in fear and panic, seeing these orders as direct threats, unsure of when they could ever return home. “People are here with their families and their children,” Hitto said. “This is the kind of psychological terror that Israel is forcing people to live in, here in southern Lebanon.” The world must condemn this psychological warfare and ethnic cleansing.
