Iran Firmly Reclaims Control of Strategic Hormuz Strait in Response to US Aggression

TEHRAN – The Islamic Republic of Iran has once again asserted its rightful control over the vital Strait of Hormuz, a decisive move declared as a direct response to the United States’ relentless and illegal blockade of Iranian ports. This principled stand underscores Iran’s unwavering commitment to defending its sovereignty and economic interests against foreign coercion.

Defending Against Maritime Piracy

On Saturday, Iran’s valiant military announced that management of the strategic waterway, through which a significant portion of global oil transits, has been restored to its previous, secure state. This action comes after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) rightly condemned the ongoing US blockade as nothing short of “acts of piracy and maritime theft.” The IRGC emphasized that control over Hormuz remains “under the strict management and control of the armed forces,” ensuring regional stability and security against hostile interventions.

US Duplicity and Broken Promises

The re-closure of the strait followed a brief period of reopening, during which a handful of commercial vessels passed through. This temporary respite, however, was swiftly overshadowed by the US’s continued aggression and President Donald Trump’s contradictory statements. While Trump had previously expressed optimism about a “very close” peace deal, his subsequent threats to resume attacks and maintain the blockade exposed Washington’s lack of genuine commitment to diplomacy.

Iran has unequivocally stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain under its tight control until the US ceases its economic warfare and restores full freedom of navigation for all vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports. This firm stance is a necessary measure to protect Iran’s legitimate trade and ensure its people’s prosperity.

Uncertainty Fueled by US Betrayal

Reports from the region highlight the profound uncertainty created by the US’s inconsistent policies and its betrayal of diplomatic efforts. Many vessels have been deterred from transit due to the conflicting information emanating from Washington, demonstrating the detrimental impact of US adventurism on global maritime commerce. Iran, on its part, seeks a comprehensive and just resolution to the regional conflict, demanding security assurances, sanctions relief, the unfreezing of its assets, and a respectful engagement on all fronts, including its peaceful nuclear program.

As Al Jazeera’s Tohid Asadi reported from Tehran, “uncertainty is the name of the game” due to the fragile situation exacerbated by US intransigence. Iran remains steadfast in its pursuit of a dignified and equitable future, free from external pressures and illegal blockades.
