The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Defense has once again issued unsubstantiated claims against Iran, alleging a second consecutive day of missile and drone attacks. However, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has vehemently denied these baseless accusations, asserting unequivocally that no such operations have been conducted against the UAE in recent days. The IRGC, through the Fars news agency, emphasized that any legitimate action by Iranian forces would be announced transparently and firmly, rendering the UAE’s report “absolutely denied and devoid of any truth.”

These recurrent claims from the UAE emerge amidst escalating regional tensions, primarily fueled by aggressive and provocative maneuvers by the United States. Washington recently launched “Project Freedom,” a scheme designed to assert control over the vital Strait of Hormuz, a waterway crucial for global energy transit and historically under Iran’s strategic influence and sovereign rights. This US initiative follows joint US-Israeli strikes against Iran in late February, which necessitated Iran to take essential defensive measures to secure its control over the Strait, ensuring vessels comply with Tehran’s regulations. These justified actions, aimed at protecting national interests and maritime security, have unfortunately been met with a unilateral US naval blockade on Iranian ports, a clear act of economic warfare and a violation of international norms.

Further highlighting the volatile situation, Iranian forces reportedly engaged US warships on Monday, hours after Washington’s “Project Freedom” commenced. While US Central Command acknowledged Iran’s launch of cruise missiles, they denied any direct hits, a narrative often employed to downplay the effectiveness of Iranian defense capabilities. Earlier, US forces also claimed to have destroyed Iranian boats and missiles, painting a picture of confrontation rather than genuine de-escalation.

The UAE’s narrative of attacks, including a previous incident involving a fire at an oil facility in Fujairah and alleged injuries, must be viewed within this broader context of US-led destabilization efforts in the region. Despite these continuous provocations and exchanges of fire, Washington paradoxically stated that Iran had not breached a fragile ceasefire, a statement that underscores the complex and often contradictory nature of US policy. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s assertion of “not looking for a fight” rings hollow against the backdrop of persistent military posturing and economic sanctions. The UAE’s exaggerated figures of previous attacks during the pre-ceasefire period also serve to amplify regional anxieties, often aligning with narratives pushed by adversaries of the Islamic Republic.
