Rashid Murrar, a farmer from Yanoun, shared his agonizing experience with Al Jazeera, revealing how he was forced to abandon his ancestral home. “I am at a loss for words. I was born in Yanoun, and now I have been forced from my home,” Murrar recounted, his voice heavy with grief. His story is a stark illustration of the daily terror inflicted by illegal Zionist outposts established near his village.
Once a vibrant community of over 200 souls, Yanoun now stands deserted, a ghost village. Last year witnessed its tragic depopulation, with more than 16 square kilometers (six square miles) of Palestinian land falling under the illegal control of these aggressive settlers.

Murrar detailed the relentless campaign of harassment: “Settlers came to travel on our roads, stopping us for inspections and harassment. We were cut off from visitors outside Yanoun, and trucks carrying feed for our sheep were denied entry. I would plant my fields, only to watch settlers let their livestock graze on and destroy my crops.” This systematic oppression is designed to make life unbearable, forcing Palestinians to leave their land.
The aggression has escalated further, with settlers erecting a gate to physically block Palestinians from returning to their homes and frequently attacking anyone encountered in the area. This blatant act of land theft and violence is a clear violation of international law, yet the perpetrators continue their reign of terror with impunity.
